TRAINING ACADEMY

Northwest Adventure provides the Non Restricted PAL course.  This training is mandated by the RCMP Canadian Firearms Safety Program prior to applying for a firearms license.  This course covers the minimal safety requirements and covers the following;

• General technical knowledge of the operation of various firearms
• Safe handling, transportation and storage of firearms
• General knowledge on ballistics and sights
• Legal responsibilities of the firearm owner

This course is tailored for those who have completed the PAL course or are contemplating getting a PAL.  Course is also to open to members of the media and policy makers to answer any questions about Canadian Firearms Policies.  We provide 5 - 10 rounds depending on the rifle as a familiarity.  Basic package includes

• Practical application of Basic Firing Positions
• Practical application of the five different rifles taught in the Canadian Firearms Safety Program
• Introduction of Basic Marksmanship

At request we can provide more ammunition for increased cost, contact for details.

This course is the same as Land Navigation 1 with the addition of a navigation confirmation in adverse conditions.

Vehicle based wilderness navigation

Price includes vehicle usage and class room.  This course incorporates the same principles as Land Navigation 1 but from a vehicle perspective.

1. Dressing for winter conditions
2. Preparation of a winter camp site to include water preparation and ration planning
3. Winter safety

The course will consist of 2 days classroom followed by an overnight winter camp in which equipment is hauled in on toboggan, campsite preparation, etc.  This course is dependant on weather conditions.

We will teach how to plan and prepare for an expedition in the heart of the prairies in Canada

We will teach and guide you in your first expedition to include planning, briefings, team management  and more.

With daily after action reviews and a switching of roles Northwest Adventure will guide you through the process.
